REGULAR MEETING

WESTON TOWN COUNCIL 6:30 PM

1.   CALL TO ORDER AND DETERMINATION OF QUORUM

2. PUBLIC COMMENT

The public is invited to speak for up to three minutes on any subject of which the Town of Weston has authority. However, no discussion or action, by law, may be taken on the topic unless the item is on the agenda or until properly posted on a future agenda, other than to make statements of specific factual information in response to a citizen's inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry. 

3. INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION ITEMS

  1. Consider and Discuss the State of the Town of Weston (Mayor)

4. EXECUTIVE SESSION

As authorized by Section 551.071 and 551.074 of the Texas Government Code (Consultation with Town Attorney), this meeting may be convened into closed Executive Session for the purpose of seeking confidential legal advice from the Town Attorney on any agenda item herein. Additionally, pursuant to Texas Government Code, Annotated, Chapter 551, Subsection D, Texas Open Meetings Act (the "Act"), Council will recess into Executive Session (closed meeting) to discuss the following:

  1. Receive legal advice and discussion to deliberate the employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, benefits, and discipline of the Town of Weston's employees to include the Town Secretary and the Fire Chief;
  2. Receive legal advice regarding the EEOC complaint filed by the Fire Chief;
  3. Receive legal advice regarding a Demand Letter and threatened litigation by a former Town employee; and
  4. Request legal advice regarding a third-party request for personnel records.

 

As authorized by Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code, to discuss personnel matters:

5. RECONVENE INTO REGULAR SESSION

Take any action necessary as a result of the Closed Session.

  1. Discuss and Act on Employee Benefits.
  2. Discuss and Act on matters related to the Fire Chief, including the EEOC complaint, and the Fire Chief's performance evaluation, duties, responsibilities, employment, and related personnel matters.
  3. Discuss and Act on Demand Letter and Litigation.
  4. Discuss and Act on Release of Personnel Records.
  5. Discuss and Act on Alderman Vacancy.

6.  COUNCIL AND MAYOR ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS/UPDATES

7.  ADJOURN

If during the course of the meeting covered by this notice, the Town Council should determine that a closed or executive meeting or session of the Town Council or a consultation with the attorney for the Town should be held or is required, then such closed or executive meeting or session or consultation with attorney is authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Cote 551.001 et seq., will be held by the Town Council at the date, hour and place given in this notice or as soon after the commencement of the meeting covered by this notice as the Town Council may conveniently meet in such closed or executive meeting or session or consult with the attorney for the Town concerning any and all subjects and for any and all purposes permitted by the Act, including but not limited to, the following sanctions and purposes:

551.087 Deliberation regarding Economic Development Negotiations

551.071 Private consultation with the attorney for the City

551.072 Discussing purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property

551.074 Discussing personnel or to hear complaints against personnel

RULES OF COURTESY

Town Council meetings bring together citizens of many varied interests and ideas. To insure fairness and orderly meetings, the TownCouncil asks that all cellular phones or audible beepers be silenced while Town Council is in session.  All persons should refrain from private conversation, eating, drinking and smoking while in the Council Chamber.  Citizens and other visitors attending Town Council meetings shall observe the same rules of propriety, decorum and good conduct applicable to members of the Town Council.  No one shall delay or interrupt the proceedings, or refuse to obey the orders of the presiding officer.
