NOTICE OF MEETING TO VOTE

ON TAX RATE

A tax rate of $0.360000 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of Town of Weston.

PROPOSED TAX RATE $0.360000 per $100

NO-NEW-REVENUE TAX RATE $0.375961 per $100

VOTER-APPROVAL TAX RATE   $0.390212 per $100

The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax ra e for the 2025 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for Town of Weston from the same properties in both the 2024 tax year and the 2025 tax year.

The voter-approval rate is the highest tax rate that Town of 'Weston may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.

The proposed tax rate is not greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that Town of Weston is not proposing to increase property taxes. for the 2025 tax year.

A PUBLIC MEETING TO VOTE ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON September 23, 2025

AT 6:30 PM AT Weston Town Hall, 301 Main Street·, Weston, TX 75097.

The proposed tax rate is also not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, Town of Weston is not required to hold an election to seek voteapproval of the rate. However, you may express your support for or opposition to the proposed tax rate by contacting the members of the Governing Body of Town of Weston at their offices or by attending the public meeting mentioned above.

The 86th Texas Legislature modified the manner in which the voter-approval tax rate is calculated to limit the rate of growth of property taxes in the state.

2025 CANDIDATES

It’s great that so many residents are stepping up and have chosen to run for Weston Town Council. The assistance offered by these candidates and their interest in the town is greatly appreciated. The six candidates vying for three seats in November election are:

Filing Deadlines for November 4, 2025 General Election

The Town of Weston will hold an election November 4, 2025, electing one (1) Mayor and two (2) Aldermen.

July 19, 2025 - First Day to File for Place on the General Election Ballot

August 18, 2025 5PM - Last Day to File for Place on the General Election Ballot

August 25, 2025 - Last Day to File a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy

An application may be filed by:

a.  Mail.  An application filed by mail is considered filed at the time of its receipt by the appropriate authority.  The time of receipt is the time at which a post office employee places it in the actual possession of the authority or an agent; or deposits it in the authority's mailbox or at the usual place of delivery for the authority's official mail.

b.  Filing in Person.  Applications are accepted during normal business hours (8a-4p M-W, 8a-2p Th, additional 8a-5p Aug 18 and Aug 25)

c.  Email:  A signed, sworn, scanned candidate application may be submitted by email to townhall@westontexas.com.  (An application must be notarized or otherwise sworn to before someone authorized to administer an oath under Texas law) prior to filing via email)

October 6, 2025 - Last Day to Register to Vote

November 4, 2025 - Election Day

2024 NOTICE OF ESTIMATED TAXES

Visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information regarding the amount of taxes that each entity that taxes your property will impose if the entity adopts its proposed tax rate. Your local property tax database will be updated regularly during August and September as local elected officials propose and adopt the property tax rates that will determine how much you pay in property taxes.

A property owner may register on the Local Property Tax Database website to have notifications regarding updates to the property tax database delivered to them by e-mail. You may request the same information from the assessor of each taxing unit for your property, by requesting their contact information from your county’s assessor at:
